It’s mid November. The year is coming to an end. What kind of year or cycle has 2023 been for you? I’d love to hear from you in the comments section!
For me this year has been one of reflection and rest. Much of my life was beautifully paced this year with just enough work, play, creativity and rest. The slower pace of life came about through the global Covid years and it continues at a similar speed. Now, a familiar pace that I can keep up with while taking the time to give thought to and pause to what’s happening in my different spheres. As a self-professed introvert with occasional extrovert tendencies “my life” is a delightful fit, a second skin. It only took 63 years!
Actually, a dream come true. Yes, I’m living the dream. For me that means living comfortably in my existence while engaging with others and in the world. I feel immense gratitude. My relationships are precious, rich, and deep. They are just the right amount that I can tend easily to them. I have the flexibility at work and at play. Which means using my skills as a production-line carpenter and travelling a little. My workplace is supportive, engaging and healthy. Bob, my partner, and I went to the Nova Scotia for a few weeks to explore, and visit with good friends.
My creativity still comes in the form of photography and writing. While poetry is escaping me, at the moment; it brought me through a particularly long, dark period. Thank you to my poetry followers. Creative story writing has taken it’s place. I meet with my writing companion from Vancouver Island via Zoom once a month to keep our pencils sharpened. We take turns coming up with writing topics. It is she who suggested I think about a blog. Thank you my friend. Who knows where this blog will go. Perhaps it’ll go on a few more journeys. Perhaps it goes no where. One thing I have learned about creativity is that it “moves” best without expectations. Creativity for the sake of “being creative” is enough. I am enough. So are you. Besides aren’t we creating our lives each day?
